We have one purpose – to maximize your pharmacy value and prepare you completely for the sale of your pharmacy; minimizing your worry.
Our team of mergers and acquisition specialists will guide you through the process of selling your pharmacy; but our business is not built on closing one deal after another. We build a relationship with you and your business, and continue to work with you after the sale to make sure every part of the deal has gone through smoothly and correctly. We work nationwide and have assisted in the sale of pharmacies coast to coast.
The StillwellRx team is made up of experts with many years of experience in all parts of the independent pharmacy arena. This includes, but is not limited to, individual and multi practice ownership, pharmacy sales, consulting, brokerage and transition of ownership. Each StillwellRx team member is ready with just the right tools and knowledge to give you the upper hand.
We know your pharmacy means a lot to you, and we are proud to say that it means a lot to us too.
Taking the next steps can be difficult, and scary; our team is here to help ease your worry in the process. Working with the big chains often means you’re more likely to leave money on the table – which means less in your pocket. We won’t let that happen.
We want our clients to be:
Guy brings more than 33 years of pharmacy experience and understands the importance of buying and selling pharmacies confidentially and his vast experience is why he is considered the leader in pharmacy valuations and transfer of ownership in the country today. He has the ability to listen, investigate and analyze business needs, then advise his clients accordingly. Guy has many connections throughout the industry and is influential. He believes in a “full disclosure approach”, and will provide all the necessary information needed to professionally negotiate and close on a pharmacy for sale.
Guy’s expertise crosses many fields in several industries. He has owned and managed 18 pharmacy operations and still owns a handful of them today, including a large compounding lab and held an executive leadership role at one of the largest pharmacy companies in the United States for many years. He was the founder and owner of Pharmacy Consulting Associates (PCA), which he sold and is now owned by two of his former agents. Guy has sold, valued, and consulted with thousands of pharmacy owners across the country. His goal is to ensure his colleges retain as much of the proceeds as possible from the sale of their practice.
We specialize in the confidential representation of buyers and sellers. StillwellRx acts on your behalf allowing the sale of your pharmacy to remain confidential until the appropriate time. This is especially important if you do not wish your employees, bank, suppliers, competitors, or customers to find out prematurely that you are planning to sell your business
Nationwide it typically takes six to nine months to sell a pharmacy, but it can take a year or more. Wanting to get the best price possible for your pharmacy means your business has to continue to function as usual. Maintaining the status quo ensures that employees feel secure and don’t contemplate leaving, and your patients know that service and quality will be maintained. If a pharmacy is for sale, it is especially important to continue in the same efficient manner.
StillwellRx knows how to market your pharmacy. A blind business profile and/or a confidential business review are tools that we use when promoting the sale of your pharmacy. The blind business review is a brief marketing piece that does not include the name or location of your business in order to maintain confidentiality. Its purpose is to present all the important details about your pharmacy, including basic financials, and an upbeat description. It does not specifically identify your pharmacy. It is easy to read and is intended to provide sufficient information in order to gauge the interest level of the reader. The pharmacy particulars are only given to serious buyers, and only after they have signed a confidentiality agreement and completed the qualifying stage.

We have conducted business from coast to coast, and are here to help you regardless of your location.
“When my husband Paul and I decided to retire, we hoped to sell our pharmacy to an independent. We had been a Medicine Shoppe for twenty years, then “The Medicine Cabinet” for the last five years. However, we could not find anyone locally who was able to purchase our pharmacy. A chain store had given us an offer, but we had serious reservations about accepting it. Paul was a compounding pharmacist and had a number of specialty patients. It was likely that with the sale to a chain these services would be eliminated. Furthermore, the chain told us that only one of out employees would be hired. We worried about our patients, customers, and staff. They depended on Paul.
We approached Guy Stillwell to look over the contract from the chain. He explained that our pharmacy could continue its tradition, stay in the same location, continue to take care of our patients, and generate a higher selling price. He established rapport with us, listened to our concerns, and offer his services. He was professional, thorough, and competent in representing us. He brought us an offer from a buyer who would keep our pharmacy going, and the offer was considerably more than the chain. Throughout the process, Guy kept us informed, answered all our questions, gave guidance, and made the transaction much easier than we believed possible.
Today the pharmacy continues to provide the services our patients became accustomed to. We recommend Guy to other pharmacy owners without hesitation.”
“I felt the need to call an end to owning my own pharmacy. Now don’t think for a minute that you are hearing from a loser and quitter. My pharmacy did about two and a half million gross every year the last six years. I did it as the only pharmacist with six very good technicians. We had six computer stations besides the main station & ran four cash registers.
Seventy years of age, no vacations, third party pay & burgeoning regulations just burnt me out. The idea of selling the pharmacy scared the heck out of me. I was sure that I’d take a big loss & dreaded going through the details of closing it out. A man named Guy Stillwell was recommended to me. Some background checking on him impressed me. First of all he had a pharmacy background & a long line of successful pharmacy sales. When we met, I found him to be a comfortable man to work with.
Guy Stillwell soon had several independent pharmacies & several chains wanting the business. He did a great job & got top dollar for me. He kept me well informed as he went and he walked me through the closing.”
“The most important thing to us was to make sure the neighborhood pharmacy STAYED as neighborhood pharmacy. We took care of our patients for almost eighteen years. They deserved a smooth transition to pharmacists who would continue the fine service our people were accustomed to.
Patients who come to a pharmacy deserve personalized service, the kind of care independent pharmacies are known for. Guy Stillwell understood our needs. He understood that transferring a pharmacy is a process that requires time, expertise, patience and trust. All of these pieces need to fit in order for both parties to be satisfied with the outcome.”
